Why is a general examination important?
A general examination is the most important health check that should be performed regularly for your pet — not only when they are sick but also to help them stay healthy. Many diseases show no clear symptoms in the early stages. Routine exams catch potential issues before they become serious, which lowers treatment costs and raises success rates.
At Altıntaş Veterinary Clinic we follow the Fear-Free principle: we design each visit to be stress-free, safe and compassionate.
How does the examination process work?
When you arrive at your appointment we fill out a detailed medical history — your pet's age, past illnesses, diet and any recent behavioural changes are critical. We then perform the physical exam: heart and lungs are auscultated, the abdomen is palpated, and the skin, ears, mouth and teeth are checked.
If needed, additional tests (blood work, X-ray) can be done the same day. At the end of every visit we provide a written health report.
How often should we come for examinations?
Healthy adult cats and dogs should have at least one general examination per year. Senior pets (7+ years) benefit from twice-yearly check-ups. Puppies and kittens are seen more frequently alongside their vaccination schedule.
