Dog Walks in Antalya Heat: Ideal Times and Routes

Antalya summers require special care for dog owners. A safe walking guide against hot asphalt, long sun hours and 40°C-plus temperatures.

Summer dog walk in Antalya

In Antalya summer, the air heats up rapidly after 10am and the asphalt can reach 60°C at midday. Timing the walk right is essential to protect your dog's health and paws.

The safest walking hours

  • Early morning: 05:30 - 08:30
  • Late evening: 20:30 - 22:30

Mid-day (10:00-19:00) from June to September is strongly discouraged. Even short bathroom breaks should stay in the shade and be kept to 5-10 minutes.

The 5-second asphalt test

Before walking, place the back of your hand on the asphalt and count to 5. If you cannot hold it comfortably, it will burn your dog's paw pads. Grassy parks or the sandy beach (in the morning) are safer.

Walking gear

  • Foldable water bowl and a bottle of cold water
  • Cooling vest (for long-haired breeds)
  • Paw balm or protective booties
  • First-aid kit
