A microchip is a rice-grain-sized, ISO-compliant identification chip. It is injected under the skin between the shoulder blades, carries a unique number and is linked to the owner in a database. It increases the chance of a lost pet being reunited with their family by around 85%.
How do I get a pet passport?
The pet passport process is as follows:
- Microchip implantation
- Rabies vaccination (or a valid booster)
- Health declaration
- Ministry-approved passport issuance
The total timeline is 21 days (rabies vaccine waiting period). EU countries may also require a rabies titre test — results take up to 3 months.
How early should I plan for international travel?
General rule: at least 1 month ahead. For non-EU countries (UK, Japan, Australia) allow 3-6 months. Call us as soon as your plans are set — we will review country-specific requirements together.
